Chastain
While there is no dispute that the Rancho Mediterrania Program has not
District 3
lived up to its initial optimism, your editorial understates the City's
Betty L. Cook
exhaustive analysis of the problem and search for pragmatic solutions.
District 4, RDA \fiee(:halr
It is frustrating for diligent policy -makers to read sound bites
disseminated for purposes of mass appeal but lacking any
De11dreH,Bennett
Distrlctb,Mayor Pru Tem
comprehension of the facts and circumstances surrounding a problem.
Jaynes B. Carimsby
For starters, let us correct the principal misstatements of fact in your
District H
editorial upon which presumably you derived your conclusions:
• You indicated that 23 lots have been sold to home buyer's. Actually,
CITY MANAGER
33 lots have been sold to home buyer's and another 12 lots to
developers for total lot sales of 45.
Henry r. Garcia
• The market study determined that comparable homes (including land
and home) were overpriced on average by $20,000 to $30,000 and
not by $30,000 to $75,000 as you reported.
• The assessment district represents $2.7 million in debt not $7.2
million as you reported. The total debt encumbering the property is
approximately $7.2 million.
The Colton Redevelopment Agency recognizes its failed prior efforts and
undertook a comprehensive evaluation of its options with respect to the
park's future. These efforts included the following:
1. Engaging an independent marketing consultant to establish the
target market for the park and determine fair market rents and
home prices.
CIVIC CENTER
6;50 N.
