CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />Council Meeting of February 1, 2000 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and Council Members <br />APPROVAL: Henry T. Garcia, City Manager <br />FROM: Daryl J. Parrish, Assistant City Manager <br />SUBJECT: Consideration of the Randall Avenue Storm Drain Reimbursement <br />Agreement between the City of Colton and the City of San <br />Bernardino <br />DATE: January 19, 2000 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Randall Avenue Storm Drain Project (the "Project') currently under construction <br />consists of approximately 2200 linear feet of pipe and catch basins within the street <br />right of way along Randall Avenue from Eucalyptus Avenue on the west to the Randall <br />Detention Basin on the east (at the Northwest comer of Meridian and Randall <br />Avenues). The project will have a direct mitigating effect on the flow of waters from the <br />north by directing them in an easterly direction into the soon to be enlarged Randall <br />Detention Basin. When the storm drain is completed parcels such as the Jehue Middle <br />School, the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center and the intersections of San <br />Bernardino and Pepper and Valley and Pepper will have significant relief from flooding <br />conditions that have historically occurred at those locations. Funding for the Randall <br />Avenue Storm Drain project was approved by the Community Facilities District <br />Commission and the City Council in the amount of $494,218. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />The project will carry storm water from both cities and a portion of the project lies within <br />the City of San Bernardino as the attachment to the proposed agreement indicates. <br />The San Bernardino portion of the project must be constructed in order for the project <br />to be effective. The City of San Bernardino has agreed to contribute $30,000 to <br />reimburse the City of Colton for costs incurred in designing and constructing the San <br />Bernardino portion of the project. The City of San Bernardino shall in no event <br />contribute in excess of $30,000 towards the project. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />None. <br />FISCAL IMPACT: <br />Approving the attached agreement will reduce the cost of the Randall Avenue Storm <br />Drain Project to the City of Colton by $30,000. <br />Item #7 <br />
