CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF FEBRUARY 15, 2000
TO: HONORABLE MAYOR & CITY COUNCIL
APPROVAL: HENRY T. GARCIA, CITY MANAGE
FROM: AL HOLLIMAN, FINANCE DIRECTOR
SUBJECT: AWARD A CONTRACT FOR TWO % TON PICK-UP TRUCKS FOR THE ELECTRIC
DEPARTMENT TO CREST CHEVROLET IN THE AMOUNT OF $44,527.30
DATE: FEBRUARY 7, 2000
BACKGROUND
The City Council approved four vehicles for the Electric Department in the 99-00 fiscal year budget. At
the Council meeting of December 7, 1999, the City Council awarded a bid for various pick-up trucks for
the Street and Park Divisions to Crest Chevrolet. The % ton pick-up specified in this bid for the Street
Division is the same pick-up that the Electric Department is requesting to purchase.
DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS
The City of Colton can tag on to this bid and purchase two additional pick-ups for the same price. The
Bid Analysis from the December 7" City Council meeting is attached for your information. The 3/ ton
pick-ups requested by the Electric Department are Item #4 on the Bid Analysis.
ALTERNATIVES
Go out to competitive bid, which will delay the purchase of these vehicles for the Electric Department. It
is also highly unlikely that a more favorable price for the trucks would be obtained.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
City Council appropriated the funds in the FY 99-00 budget for the Electric Department in account
number 520-8000-8004-4910-010 1.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
None
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends City Council award a contract for two % ton pick-ups for the Electric Department to
Crest Chevrolet in the amount of $44,527.30.
Report prepared by Mary J. Milroy, Purchasing Coordinator
Attachments: Bid Analysis
Page I of I
Item #9
