CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
FOR THE COUNCIL MEETING OF AUGUST 6, 2002
Item #20
TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS
FROM: AMER JAKHER, P.E., CITY ENGINEER
SUBJECT: ACCEPTANCE OF CORNER CUTBACK DEDICATION FOR
STREET RIGHT OF WAY AT NORTHEAST CONER OF 9a'
STREET AND "H" STREET.
DATE: July 22, 2002
The development of the Hampton Inn project included the reduction of the street
width of H Street. The proposed width reduction necessitated installation of new curb
return on the northeast corner of the intersection of 9th Street and H Street. The
installation of a larger curb radius would provide improved turning movement. The
property owners at the northeast corner of intersection, Squires Lumber, have agreed
to dedicate the necessary right -of way, at no cost to the City of Colton. A copy of the
deed, signed by Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Paxson is attached as Exhibit "A".
ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION:
The existing street right of way at that intersection is not sufficient to allow for the
installation of the new curb return. The owners of the property have agreed to
dedicate additional lands for public use in order to accommodate the installation of
the required street improvements.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
There is no financial impact for the additional street dedication.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
This action does not have an environmental impact.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that Council accept the offer of dedication from Stanley and
Pamela Paxson and authorize the recordation of the attached Grant Deed.
Prepared by: Brian Baden, Engineering Tech II
REVIEW TEAM ONLY
City Attorney: Finance Director:
City Manager: OTHER:
P:\AGENDA REPORTS\080602\squires deed rpt.doc
