Item #13
CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF May 7, 2002
TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS
FROM: AMER JAKHER, P.E., CITY ENGINEER
SUBJECT: RESERVATION OF A PORTION OF LA CADENA DRIVE FOR FIRE
STATION PURPOSES
DATE: MARCH 6, 2002
BACKGROUND:
Fire Station Number Three was constructed in the early 1980's within a portion of La Cadena
Drive. The State of California acquired the right of way for La Cadena Drive in 1939, as per
document recorded in Book 1328, page 272, Records of San Bernardino County. The State of
California relinquished the rights to the City of Colton in 1959, as per document recorded in Book
4993, pages 235 and 236, Official Records of San Bernardino County.
ANALYSIS/DISCUS SION:
The location of the existing Fire Station does not affect the roadway. It is desirable that all City
facilities be located upon a separate, definable parcel of land. No records can be found to provide
evidence that this facility was separated from La Cadena Drive.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
The proposed public improvements are Exempt under Section 15305 of the California
Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).
FINANCIAL/FISCAL IMPACT:
This action will require some reconfiguration of boundary lines. An accurate cost cannot be
determined at this time.
