Item #8 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF MARCH 16, 2004 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS <br />FROM: AMER JAKIIER, P.E., CITY ENGINEER <br />SUBJECT: APPROVE RESOLTUION ADDING PAVEMENT MANAGEMENT <br />TO THE BUDGET FOR FY 03/04 AND AUTHORIZE THE AWARD <br />OF CONTRACT FOR DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF <br />PAVEMENT MANAGEMENT PROGRAM FOR CITY STREET <br />SYSTEM TO GK AND ASSOCIATES IN THE AMOUNT OF <br />$65,000.00 <br />DATE: MARCH 8, 2004 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The City has approximately 130 mile of street pavement to maintain and preserve. A pavement <br />management system is needed to effectively plan and provide pavement rehabilitation to City Street <br />System and meet the requirements of State and Federal funding dollars. <br />Public Services Department solicited proposals from ten major Engineering firms capable of <br />providing design and development of a pavement management system. Only one firm (GK and <br />Associates) submitted proposal for this project. The scope of services defined in the proposal <br />should satisfy and meet the City requirements. <br />GK and Associates — Diamond Bar, Ca. $ 65,000.00 <br />ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION: <br />Staff recommends the approval of the attached resolution to amend the budget for FY 2003/2004 <br />adding the design and development of the Pavement Management Program for city street system. <br />The Pavement Management Program has already been approved in the Capital Improvement <br />Program Fiscal Year 2003/2004.
