Item #12
CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
FOR THE COUNCIL MEETING OF MARCH 16, 2004
TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
FROM: AMER JAHKER, P.E., CITY ENGINEER
SUBJECT: ADOPT RESOLUTION AMENDING RESOLUTION #2119 TO
INCLUDE ADDITIONAL NO PARKING AREAS ALONG A
PORTION OF MERIDIAN AVENUE, NORTH OF PORFIRIO ELIES
WAY
DATE: March 4, 2004
BACKGROUND:
The State of California Vehicle Code allows parking restrictions, if adopted by a City ordinance or
a resolution. Section 23 of the City of Colton Resolution # 2119 lists areas of the City of Colton
with parking restrictions.
ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION:
The attached resolution amends Resolution # 2119, to include a parking prohibition along the east
side of Meridian Avenue for a distance of fifty feet north of the north end of the curb return of
Porfirio Elies Way to enhance the sight distance for vehicles entering that intersection from the
east. This issue has been reviewed by the City Traffic Engineer and the City of Colton Traffic
Safety Committee.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
This action will require the painting of fifty feet of curb, which is a normal function of the Street
Division of the Public Services Department.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
None.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that Council approve the attached Resolution, authorizing the restriction of
parking along the portion of eastside of Meridian Avenue, as described in said Resolution.
Attachments: Resolution
Exhibit
Report prepared by Brian Baden, Engineering Technician 11
