FRASER, DIRECTOR OF WATER & WASTEWATER OPERATIONS <br />SUBJECT: KRIEGER AND STEWART PROFESSIONAL SERVICES CONTRACT FOR <br />ENGINEERNG SERVICES FOR THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF <br />WATERLINE AND SEWER LINE REPLACEMENT PROJECTS. <br />DATE: <br />SEPTEMBER 27, 2004 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On November 7, 2000 a contract was awarded to Krieger and Stewart in the amount of $110,050 for the <br />engineering design of the Phase I Waterline and Sewer Line Replacement Projects. The contract expired <br />on June 30, 2001. Due to unanticipated delays in the Project, the City and Consultant amended the <br />original agreement to extend the contract through September 30, 2002. At the request of staff, Krieger and <br />Stewart halted work on the Phase I Projects. The funds on the contract were not fully expended and were <br />rolled over to the following fiscal years with a balance of $43,371 on Purchase Order 051235. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />Due to the City's Direction to stop work on the Phase I Projects several of the components at Mt. Vernon <br />Ave. and Long Beach were not completed.
