CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
For Council Meeting of July 17, 1990
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council
FROM: Edmund F. Sotelo, City Manage
SUBJECT: City Council Approval of Change Orders #5 Date: July 10, 1990
and #6 for Hutton/Luque Community Centers
Expansion Project
BACKGROUND
CHANGE ORDER #5
Hutton Community Center - In the parking lot every effort was made
to save as many trees as possible. To avoid excessive cutting
of roots on a Chinese Elm tree, Staff revised the parking lot plan
by deleting a stall and adding additional concrete curbing.
Luque Center - The gas service was not properly located by the
engineer hired to provide the site plan. Due to code restrictions,
gas services cannot be located buried beneath structures. Because
the problem was not encountered until Southern California Gas Co.
marked the site, the contractor could not include the relocation
costs into his bid.
Hutton and Luque Community Centers - Extension of the time required
due to utility relocation, not located on site plan.
CHANGE ORDER #6
Hutton Community Center - A structura•1 pipe column was located
at the addition access cut-out in the existing masonry block wall.
As this existing structural component was utilized for roof load
transfer to the footing, a retrofit was required to maintain the
structural intergrity of the existing structure.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
The City Council needs to approve Change Orders #5 and #6 to the
existing contract as now held with Shook Building Systems, Inc.
ALTERNATIVES
1. Reject the Change Orders, which then the City can anticipate
claims to be file.
2. Approve the Change Orders.
Attachments: ( 2 ) Change Orders #5 and #6
Page t of2
ORIGINAL' Item No._
CENTRAL RECORDS v
FILL110.A.0.'J..3....................
