CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />For Council Meeting of April 7, 1992 <br />TO: Honorable ayor d ' Council <br />FROM: it <br />Manager <br />SUBJEC Date :4-2-92 <br />Executive Management Performance Appraisals <br />BACKGROUND: <br />As an integral part of the City's Administrative Policy and Procedures, <br />Executive Management Performance Appraisals must be done in accordance <br />with up-to-date methodology. <br />DISCUSSION• <br />Performance appraisal should accomplish the following objectives: <br />1. Develop a highly effective/quality management team for the City of <br />Colton. <br />2. To properly evaluate management team performance. <br />3. Give the appropriate recognition for outstanding performance and <br />encourage improved performance when necessary. <br />4. To improve accountability in the operations of the City. <br />5. Get proper feedback from subordinate staff. <br />6. Accomplish pre -determined goals and objectives. <br />To accomplish the results listed above, we have selected a behaviorally - <br />anchored performance appraisal system with performance standards. We <br />also wish to adopt the philosophy that performance appraisal is a <br />continuing process and not a once -a -year activity.
