Hutton, Director of Public Works SUBJECT: Approval of Cooperative Drainage Agreement for Date: January 13, 1992 CFD89-2, Storm Drain 3-5 Project with CALTRANS BACKGROUND: As one of the mitigation measures for future development of the West Valley area, and as a part of the CFD89-2 project agreement, storm drain 3-5 project area was required to be constructed. Since this is a portion of the project included the construction of a drainage system under the I-10 Freeway to convey storm flows from north to south, the State of California agreed that they had some financial responsibility to participate in the project construction cost. CALTRANS has agreed to contribute $300,000 towards the construction of Project 3-5 for the portion under I-10 and in order to fund their portion of the attached cooperative drainage agreement. n qri lqq T()N J - With CALTRANS participation in the project, the total project cost is reduced. This also resolves the major drainage problem that has been prevalent in the past in this area by providing a outlet for the natural, historic drainage course that was blocked with the construction of I-10. FINANCIAL IMPACT: This reduces the overall project cost for CFD89-2 by obtaining funding sources from other agencies.
