CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
For Council Meeting of June 2, 1992
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council
LZ
FROM: Ken Herron, Parks, Recreation & Human Services Director
SUBJECT: Resolution authorizing staff to submit application Date: May 26, 1992
for Urban Open Space Grant to renovate the Municipal
Park Plunge
The Municipal Park plunge recently was reviewed by Chester Pools to determine
what improvements are needed to extend the life of the facility. The
process indicated that the plunge is in need of refurbishment and the
estimated costs are approximately $35,000. The work will include structure
detailing, upgrading the recirculation system, installation of a cathodic
protection system, reconditioning the lighting system and installation of a liquid
chlorination system.
DISCUSSION:
The State Department of Parks and Recreation has allocated $12,108 through the
Roberti -Z -berg -Harris Urban Open Space Grant to the City of Colton. This grant
must be matched by a minimum of $4,036 of local funding. The refurbishment work at
the plunge qualifies for this grant expenditure. The match will tentatively be
expended from the park development fee account.
This rehabilitation is necessary to extend the life of the pool facility while
alternatives for long range solutions for the plunge can be researched.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The need to identify $22,892 to co -mingle with the grant funding to complete this
project.
R A)CK4E IDATION:
Staff recomnends the City Council approve the resolution authorizing staff to
submit this application to the State Department of Parks and Recreation.
KH:mg
City Manager's Concurrence`
Attachments:
Page I of
Item No.
