Drews, Electric Utility Director�'� <br />SUBJECT: COST SHARING AGREEMENT AMONG THE CALIFORNIA UTILITIES Date: May 12, 1992 <br />TO EVALUATE THE PURCHASE OF SAN JUAN UNIT NO. 3 AMONG CITIES OF ANAHEIM, AZUSA, <br />BANNING, COLTON, GLENDALE, PASADENA, RIVERSIDE, VERNON AND IMPERIAL IRRIGATION DISTRICT <br />R1krVr-D 1TTMn <br />Century Power owns an undivided fifty percent interest in San Juan which it has <br />offered to the Cities of Anaheim, Azusa, Banning, Colton, Glendale, Pasadena, <br />Riverside, Vernon and the Imperial Irrigation District. The Parties are <br />considering purchasing Century's interest in San Juan, either as a stock purchase <br />or an asset purchase. The total participation in San Juan is 330 MW. The City <br />of Colton will be sharing 120 MW, collectively with the Cities of Azusa and <br />Banning. <br />STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM <br />Prior to committing to this purchase, the California Utilities desire various <br />engineering and legal evaluations and analysis so that they may determine if they <br />want to consummate the purchase, therefore entering into the Cost Sharing <br />Agreement Among the California Utilities to Evaluate the Purchase of San Juan <br />Unit No. 3 Among City of Anaheim, Azusa, Banning Colton Glendale Imperial <br />Irrigation District, City of Pasadena, Riverside and Vernon. <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />None. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT <br />Each Party shall pay its share of charges incurred for the activities specified <br />in the Scope of Engineering Work and Scope of Legal Work as such Exhibits may be <br />amended. The total cost for such activities shall not exceed $197,350. The <br />Cities of Azusa, Banning and Colton shall be collectively responsible for 365 of <br />the total cost. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT <br />None. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends Council approve the Cost Sharing Agreement Among the California <br />Utilities to Evaluate the Purchase of San Juan Unit No. 3 Among City of Anaheim, <br />City of Azusa, City of Banning, City of Colton, City of Glendale, Imperial <br />Irrigation District, City of Pasadena, City of Riverside, and City of Vernon, and <br />designate the City Manager to sign all necessary documents. <br />Agreement is on file in City Clerk's off' fo y re /ew. <br />CONCURRENCE` <br />Mark Lewis <br />Attachments: City Manager <br />Page 1 of I Item No. L_ <br />
