CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
For Council Meeting of July 5, 1994
TO: Honorable Mayor, City Council, and City Manager
FROM: Thomas K. Clarke, Assistant Electric Utility Director Date: 6/22/94
SUBJECT: ADOPTION OF RESOLUTION FOR ACQUISITION FROM SOUTHERN
CALIFORNIA EDISON COMPANY FOR THE PUBLIC USE OF
DISTRIBUTION FACILITIES AT MERIDIAN AVENUE, NORTH OF
SAN BERNARDINO AVENUE, AND SAN BERNARDINO AVENUE
BACKGROUND:
Southern California Edison Company (SCE) has been providing electric
service to six residences at Meridian Avenue and also a church at San
Bernardino Avenue. In 1992, the City built it's 12,470 volt main
electric distribution line, westerly across the railway tracks where
Citrus Street turns into Randall Avenue, to serve the electrical load on
Meridian and Randall Avenue.
To prevent duplication of electric facilities to the area and to save
considerable time and expense, Southern California Edison Company has
agreed to condemnation of their 12,000 volt distribution facilities at
Meridian Avenue between Randall Avenue and San Bernardino Avenue and
electrical service to a church at San Bernardino Avenue.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM:
The facilities are being acquired since they are in the City of Colton's
electrical service area and there is an immediate need to provide
temporary power to serve the construction site for the San Bernardino
County Medical Center as well as permanent power to Well No. 24. The
Department has budgeted for acquisition of SCE facilities in -the 1993-94
fiscal year.
Page 1 of 2 ITEM NO.
