81 <br />City Attorney Hutton then explained to all of the proponents present the procedures in <br />filing a claim, and the process it goes through with the insurance company. Mr. Hutton said <br />as a metter of policy, any claim, whether valid or invalid, is rejected by the City and re- <br />ferred to the insurance carrier for handline. <br />Mr. Hutton suggested to the claimants present that they contact the insurance carrier directly, <br />Strachota Insurance Agency, for further information on the status of their claims. <br />Additional discussion followed regarding the claims among Council members, Staff, and the <br />claimants. <br />On motion of Mayor Huntoon, seconded by Councilman Rehrer and passed, the Council rejected <br />the following Claims filed with the City: Alexandra Trivis; Brenda Mata; Luis Serrato; <br />Jose V. Rubio, Jr.; Mauro Larez, Jr.; Harry M. Walters, Sr.; Ted E. Harding; Alfred A. Juarez; <br />Mary Eva Valdez; Helen Diaz; Beverly Foster; and Gary Sherck. <br />Southern California Edison Company. <br />City Attorney Hutton gave a status report on the eminent domain proceedings with the Southern <br />California Edison Company with regard to the Stater Brothers property. <br />ORAL COMMUNICATIONS: <br />Mexican Independence Fiestas. <br />Councilman Gonzales read a letter from the Associacion Mexicana Trabajadores Unidos requesting <br />permission to hold dances and the 1974 Mexican Independence Fiestas on August 16, 173, 232 242 <br />30, and 31, and on September 1, 132 145 15, and 16, at the Patio Supremo. <br />On motion of Councilman Gonzales, seconded by Councilman Hayes and passed, Council approved <br />the request of the Associacion Mexicana Trabajadores Unidos for use of the Patio Supremo on <br />the dates mentioned for the Mexican Independence Fiestas, subject to final approval of the <br />grounds by the Building and Safety Department. <br />EXECUTIVE SESSION: <br />The City Council adjourned to Executive Session at 9:22 p. m., on the request of Mayor Huntoon. <br />The City Council reconvened at 9:50 p. m., all members present. <br />ADJOURNMENT: <br />With no further business to come before the City Council at this time, on motion of Councilman <br />Hayes, seconded by Councilman Rehrer and passed, Mayor Huntoon adjourned the meeting at 9:52 <br />p. m., to meet for an Adjourned Regular Meeting on Monday, August 19, 1974, at 7:30 p. m., in <br />the Council Chambers of City Hall. <br />Approved this day of , 1974. <br />Mayor <br />ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING <br />August 19, 1974 <br />HELEN A. Also present <br />were City Manager Huffaker, City Attorney Hutton, City Clerk Ramos, Planning Director George <br />Williams, and Director of Community Services Earl Young. <br />Cooley Ranch Development (Rancho Mediterranea) <br />City Manager Huffaker stated the purpose of the Adjourned Regular Meeting this evening is to <br />discuss the proposed developments of the Cooley Ranch area, and explain the special assess- <br />ment financing for the project. <br />Mr. Huffaker said the developer will begin the presentation. <br />Mr. Tom Villelli, of Villelli Enterprises, 1001 West Whittier Boulevard, La Habra, said he <br />appreciates each one of the Council members presence, along with Staff members, for the <br />presentation this evening. <br />AUG 103 1974 <br />
