:31G <br />Engineering <br />Questions and discussion were held in regard to the Electronic Measuring Device being requested in the Capital <br />Outlay portion for $10,000. <br />Moved by Councilman Gonzales, seconded by Councilman Hayes, to approve the Engineering Budget with the Capital <br />Outlay. Unanimous vote. <br />Street Maintenance <br />Moved by Councilwoman Cisneros, seconded by Councilman Hayes, to approve the Street Maintenance Budget. <br />Unanimous vote. <br />Street Sweeping <br />Mr. Young reported the City Council had requested a report regarding the future possibility of contracting <br />this service out. Mr. Young said the other alternate considered by the Council was to transfer one of the <br />employees in this division to a comparable position and to then implement a residential street sweeping program of <br />once every other week by one street sweeper. Mr. Young said the report requested will be forthcoming in the very <br />near future. <br />emoved by Councilman Hayes,ed by Councilman Gonzales, to approve the Street Sweeping Budget of Community Services. <br />Street Lighting <br />Moved by Councilman Hayes, seconded by Councilwoman Cisneros, to approve the Street Lighting Budget and that henceforth <br />this division come under the Electric Utility Department. Unanimous vote. <br />The following budgets were approved after brief review. <br />Traffic Signals. (Gonzales/Hayes) <br />Traffic Signs. (Gonzales/Cisneros) <br />Traffic Striping. (Gonzales/Hayes) <br />Curbs, Gutters and Sidewalks. (Gonzales/Cisneros) <br />Weed Abatement. (Cisneros/Gonzales) <br />City Yards. (Cisneros/Hayes) <br />Auto Shops. (Cisneros/Hayes) <br />Water Quality Control <br />Questions were raised with regard to $125 for a lawn mower motor replacement and $3,000 for radio equipment. <br />Mr. Young replied that it would cost $125 to replace the motor on the lawn mower but approximately $600 to replace <br />the entire mower. In response to the radio equipment question, Mr. Young said the amount would provide for one <br />base station at the sewer plant itself and one mobile unit. Mr. Young stated currently the plant operation does <br />not have radio communication capabilities with the men in the field. <br />Moved by Councilwoman Cisneros, seconded by Councilman Gonzales, to approve the Water Quality Control Budget of <br />Community Services. Councilman Rehrer stated that all departments should seriously take a close look at <br />their Safety Equipment and the care thereof. Councilman Rehrer stated that each department has at least $100 <br />budgeted for replacement and he feels that replacement is too high. Mayor Beltran adjourned the meeting at 9:44 <br />p. RAMOS <br />City Clerk <br />City of Colton <br />In accordance with notice duly and legally given, an Adjourned Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City <br />of Colton was held on the above given date at 6:00 p. m., in the Council Chambers of City Hall, Mayor Beltran <br />presiding. <br />Rnl I rAl I <br />Council members present were Hayes, Cisneros, Rehrer, Gonzales, and Mayor Beltran. Also present were City <br />Manager Huffaker, City Attorney Edwards, and City Clerk Ramos. <br />BUDGET: <br />Chamber of Commerce <br />The first item for consideration in the Chamber of Commerce Budget was Account No. 01-1005-41, Community Promotions, <br />and discussion on the amount of $17,950, which was broken down as follows: Bicentennial Committee, $1,000; <br />Sister City Committee, $1,000; Seasonable Community Activities, $600; and Chamber of Commerce, $15,000. <br />Councilman Gonzales mentioned the expansion of the Police Department and possible use of a portion of the <br />Chamber of Commerce facilities, and stated he would like to hear comments from the Chamber of Commerce on this <br />item. <br />JUN 1 -1' 1976 <br />
