ADJOURNED COUNCIL MEETING <br />March 9, 1976 <br />In accordance with notice duly and legally given, an Adjourned Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City <br />of Colton was held on the above given date at 7:30 p. m., in the Council Chambers of City Hall, Mayor Huntoon <br />presiding. <br />Mayor Huntoon led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br />Invocation was offered by the Reverend Father Peter Luque of San Salvador Church. <br />ROLL CALL: <br />Council members present were Hayes, Spragins, Rehrer, Gonzales, and Mayor Huntoon. Also present were City <br />Manager Huffaker, City Attorney Edwards, and City Clerk Ramos. <br />Resolution No. 3584. <br />City Attorney Edwards introduced Resolution No. 3584, stating it is the canvass of the General Municipal <br />Election held on March 2, 1976, and read the resolution in its entirity. <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />3584 - A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON, <br />CALIFORNIA, RECITING THE FACT OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL <br />ELECTION HELD IN SAID CITY OF COLTON ON THE 2ND DAY OF <br />MARCH, 1976, DECLARING THE RESULT THEREOF AND SUCH <br />OTHER MATTERS AS ARE PROVIDED BY LAW. <br />Moved by Councilman Rehrer, seconded by Councilman Hayes, to approve Resolution No. 3584. Vote was unanimous. <br />Presentations <br />Mayor Huntoon read a Resolution of Commendation honoring Councilwoman Gertrude V. Spragins, for her 12 years <br />of dedication and service to the community. Mayor Huntoon presented Mrs. Spragins with a corsage from the <br />Council members. <br />A bouquet of flowers and plant were presented to Mrs. Spragins from Mrs. Bobbi Earnest and Mrs. Evelyn Rehrer, <br />wishing her a happy retirement. <br />Councilman Rehrer read a Proclamation from the Bicentennial Committee and presented each Council member with a <br />copy. <br />Councilman Rehrer presented a plaque to Mayor Huntoon, honoring him for his years of service to the community <br />as a Councilman and Mayor. <br />Comments from departing Council members <br />Councilwoman Gertrude V. Spragins said she would not say goodbye as Colton had been her home for over 40 <br />years, and it will always be her home. Mrs. Spragins said she loves the people here and wished everyone well. <br />Mayor Huntoon said he would like to take this opportunity to thank all of those people who voted for him, his <br />campaign committee, and especially his family. Mayor Huntoon stated it has been a pleasure and privilege <br />working with the Council members and Staff, and wished everyone success and the best. <br />Oath of Office <br />The newly elected officials came forward and City Clerk Ramos administered the Oath of Office to Abe E. Beltran, <br />Mayor; Frank A. Gonzales, Councilman; Leroy Rehrer, Councilman; Connie Cisneros, Councilwoman; Margaret A. <br />Berkebile, City Treasurer; and Helen A. Ramos, City Clerk. <br />City Clerk Ramos issued the Certificates of Election to each Official. <br />Comments from newly -elected Council members <br />Mayor Beltran stated at this time he will call for comments from the Council members. <br />Councilman Frank Gonzales said he would like to thank all of the people that voted for him and for their <br />support, he would like to thank his campaign committee, and especially his family for their dedication. <br />Councilman Gonzales introduced each member of his family. <br />Councilman Rehrer said he would also like to thank all of those people who had voted for him, his campaign <br />committee, and his family. Councilman Rehrer introduced his wife. <br />Councilwoman Connie Cisneros thanked everyone that had voted for her and supported her during her campaign, <br />she thanked her campaign committee and her family. Councilwoman Cisneros introduced each member of her family <br />and asked her committee members to stand. <br />Mayor Beltran congratulated each of the elected officials and commended each one that had campaigned for <br />office. Mayor Beltran stated he feels it is very important for everyone to work together as a team for the <br />betterment of the community. Mayor Beltran said he will do his utmost to bring progress and growth to the <br />City of Colton. <br />Mayor Beltran thanked everyone for their vote and support, all of the members of his campaign committee, and <br />his family for their dedication and confidence. Mayor Beltran introduced each member of his family. <br />Nominations for Mayor Pro -Tem <br />Mayor Beltran asked for nominations for the Office of Mayor Pro Tempore. <br />Councilman Hayes nominated Councilman Gonzales. <br />Councilman Rehrer nominated Councilman Hayes. Councilman Hayes declined the nomination. <br />Moved by Councilman Rehrer, seconded by Councilman Hayes, to close nominations for the Office of Mayor Pro <br />Tempore. Vote was unanimous. <br />Moved by Councilman Hayes, seconded by Councilman Rehrer, to cast a unanimous vote for Councilman Gonzales as <br />Mayor Pro Tempore. Vote was unanimous. <br />Councilman Gonzales thanked the Council members for their vote of confidence. <br />MAR 0976 <br />
