r` <br />MR <br />, <br />• lows; ru-w,�:•n ..__ _._. , <br />A franchise to erect, maintain and <br />operate for a term of fifty yeais, poles <br />6 and wires with all the necessary and <br />a' auxiliary fixtures thereon, over and <br />4' along the streets, aiicys, lanes, high <br />s• ways and public places of said City of ` <br />2 Colton; to transmit sounds, signals, <br />1 conversation and intelligence through <br />and over said wires by means of elec- <br />8• tricity, together with the right to <br />e• construct, operate and maintain all <br />necessary feeders, surface wires, house <br />connections and such other apparatus <br />and appliances in, connection, there- <br />with as may be necessary for the pur- <br />pose of safely and efficiently operatin; <br />and maintaining said poles, wiles and <br />Atures and carrying on ageneral tele- <br />phone and telegraph business by means <br />thereof. - That the terms and condi- i <br />tions upon which the said franchise' <br />shall be offered for sale and granted <br />are the following: <br />First, that the grantee of said fran- <br />chise, his or its successors or. assigns, <br />shall in good faith lay out and expend <br />for material and labor used and per- t <br />formed in the erection of. said, poles t <br />,• and in the construction and instal- c <br />lation in connection therewith of <br />►• wires; switchboards, telephonic and <br />° telegraphic apparatus and appliances, <br />the following sums within the periods <br />hereinafter mentioned, respectively; <br />one thousand•(1,000.00) dollars witbin <br />twelve months after the grant of.said <br />franchise; a further and additional <br />sum of one thousand ($1,000.00) dol- <br />lars within fifteen months after said <br />grant; a further and additional sum of <br />one thousand ($1,000.00) dollars with <br />in eighteen months after said grant; <br />a further and additional sum of one <br />thousand ($1,000.00) dollars within <br />twenty-four months after said grant; <br />and a further and -additional sum of <br />one thousand ($1,000.00) dollars with - <br />(c in; thirty-six months after said grant, <br />making a total of five thousand <br />b (35,000.00) dollars to be expended with - <br />or iin thirty-six month*iraer said grant. <br />-.4 And; .it shall l�he duty,gf• grantee <br />11; of said •franchise�hfs or its successors <br />or assigns, to file with the 'City Clerk <br />i gj,,the _C7it of.
