Section 2.12.010 (City Clerk) of the Colton Municipal Code is hereby <br />amended in its entirety to read as follows: <br />"As consideration for those duties required by state law to be <br />performed by the city clerk, the city clerk shall be paid a salary of three <br />hundred and seventy dollars ($370) per month, payable at the time and in <br />the manner that other salaries of the city are paid. The city council may <br />also, in its sole discretion, assign to the city clerk, through the adoption of <br />a job description, any other supplemental duties reasonably related to the <br />elected city clerk position, and may provide by resolution for the oversight <br />of such supplemental duties and for supplemental compensation to be <br />paid for such 'supplemental duties. The city council may also provide for <br />such duties to be terminated in any manner its deems necessary. The <br />city clerk's acceptance and performance of the supplemental duties and <br />supplemental compensation shall not give the city clerk tenure at the city <br />or otherwise confer regular employment status upon the city clerk." <br />SECTION 2. Severability. If any section, subsection, subdivision, paragraph, <br />sentence, clause or phrase of this chapter or any part thereof is for any reason held to <br />unconstitutional, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portion of this <br />chapter or any part thereof. <br />SECTION 3. Effective Date. This Ordinance shall become effective thirty (30) days <br />after its adoption in accordance with the provisions of California law. <br />SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this Ordinance and cause <br />the same or a summary thereof to be published within fifteen (15) days after adoption in a <br />newspaper of general circulation, printed and published in Colton, California. <br />PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED, this 18th day of December, 2007. <br />ATTEST: <br />CAROLINA R.
