R-19-09 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON <br />APPROVING SUPPLEMENTAL PAY FOR A FULL-TIME EMPLOYEE WHO IS A <br />MILITARY RESERVIST AND CALLED TO ACTIVE DUTY. <br />WHEREAS, the United States of America military personnel are in various countries <br />as a result of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, and currently there is activation of <br />military reservists; and, <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to applicable law, the City of Colton provides military leave and <br />compensation for its eligible City employees; and, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of <br />Colton hereby directs that the formal Rules and Regulations, specifically Rule No. X, Section <br />8, be modified to include the following: <br />Full-time, regular active, City employees called to active duty as a result of the terrorist <br />attacks on September 11, 2001, shall receive the difference between their regular City base <br />salary as established by present Rules and Regulations and their total military salary, starting <br />on the 31St calendar day of military leave. The difference in salary shall continue up to sixteen <br />months of active military service which includes the thirty (30) days provided for in the City's <br />Rules and Regulations. The supplemental pay will be adjusted for any merit step increases <br />accordingly. Payment into the PERS retirement plan will be made on a prorated basis. Any <br />request for supplemental pay for an activated employee must be presented to the City Council <br />for approval. <br />PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 7th day of April, 2009. <br />ATTEST: <br />EILEEN C.
