The Fire and Burn Foundation is a non-profit support agency based at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. <br />The Director of Operations, Jeanne Terwilliger, from the Fire and Burn Foundation recognized Battalion Chief <br />Kevin Valentin with the Courage Award for his actions. <br />On May 24, 2014 Chief Valentin pull injured Loma Linda Fire Captain Scott Daniels away from an electrically <br />energized fire engine after sustaining a nearly lethal electric shock on a fire in the City of Colton during <br />Memorial Day Weekend. <br />MAYOR AND COUNCIL ITEMS <br />POSSIBLE CONFLICT OF INTEREST DISLOSURES FOR THE COUNCIL MEETING OF DECEMBER <br />16, 2014. <br />Mayor DeLaRosa asked the members present if there were any agenda items that were a conflict of interest <br />pursuant to CMC Section 2.04.030. None disclosed. <br />AB 1234 ORAL REPORTS <br />Mayor DeLaRosa asked the members present if there were any brief reports on meetings attended at the <br />expense of the City. (GC Section 53232.3(d). None disclosed. <br />With no objection from Councilmembers present, Mayor DeLaRosa moved Item 17 forward. <br />BUSINESS ITEMS — Item 17 <br />Solid Waste Disposal — Direct Staff as to which level of solid waste, as provided by Republic Services, to hold a <br />rate hearing on. In addition, direct staff to hold a rate hearing regarding the increased cost to take solid waste to <br />an alternate site after Colton Landfill closes on December 31, 2014. <br />Interim City Manager Josephina Kenline introduced Public Works Director Amer Jakher to present this item to <br />Council for consideration and action. <br />Director Jakher gave a brief review as to why this item is to be reviewed at this time and introduced Jennifer <br />Shimmin, Water Conservation Specialist who presented a PowerPoint presentation that included the changes <br />and cost impact as it related to the solid waste services and rate changes. <br />Discussion by Council with a consensus of direction to staff to return with a date certain for a workshop related <br />to continued solid waste disposal services for the City of Colton. <br />Director Jakher informed Council there will be a related item on the subsequent agenda to schedule a rate <br />hearing to increase rates in response to an increased cost of solid waste disposal due to the closing of the Colton <br />Landfill. <br />MAYOR AND COUNCIL DISCUSSION ITEMS <br />• Consider going dark for the Council meeting of January 6, 2015. <br />Mayor DeLaRosa announced the Council meeting of January 6, 2015 will not be dark.
