No. R-24-87 <br />City Manager Benest presented Resolution No. R-24-87 to the City <br />Council for consideration and approval, concerning the City's support <br />of enabling legislation so that the public can vote in November, 1987, <br />for one-half cent sales tax dedicated to streets and highways in our <br />country. Assemblyman Jerry Eaves has offered to carry the Bill. <br />Mr. Benest concluded Staff recommends the City Council adopt Resolution <br />No. R-24-87, which will be sent with appropriate cover letters to both <br />Assemblyman Eaves and Senator Ayala. <br />Moved by Councilwoman Garcia, seconded by Councilman Rios, to approve <br />Resolution No. R-24-87. Unanimous vote. <br />RESOL_U_TION NO. R-24-87 - A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF COLTON URGING APPROVAL OF STATE LEGISLATION <br />AUTHORIZING A PUBLIC VOTE FOR A COUNTY TRANS- <br />PORTATION SALES TAX. <br />Closed Session <br />City Manager Benest asked for a Closed Session at the end of the meeting, <br />dealing with Meet and Confer Matters. <br />CITY ATTORNEY'S REPORTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS: <br />Pet Ordinance <br />Ord. No. 0-1-87 <br />City Attorney Edwards introduced Ordinance No. 0-1-87 for First Reading, <br />reading the ordinance in its entirity. <br />Police Chief Connolly stated that in revising and changing this ordinance <br />to include or delete portions that will accommodate and satisfy the public, <br />Staff has worked very hard to either eliminate or include all of the <br />provisions that have been discussed, reviewed, recommended, etc. <br />Mrs. Vee Briggs, 1302 highland, Colton, and Mrs. LoMelle Briggs, 105 W. <br />Citrus St., Colton, spoke against the ordinance, stating they did not <br />feel it would be in the best interest of the animals, or the community. <br />4 <br />
