Proclamations <br />Mayor Gonzales read in full a Proclamation declaring Friday, September <br />18, 1987, as POW/MIA RECOGNITION DAY. The Proclamation will be mailed <br />to the Veterans Administration. <br />Human Services Department <br />Human Services Director Richard Holmer advised the City of Colton is <br />fortunate in having a competitive swim team that did very well this <br />summer under the direction of Erin Snyder. <br />Miss Snyder advised that the Colton Swim Team, consisting of 11 members, <br />entered competition at Riverside, and ten of the eleven entrants qualified <br />for the swim meet in Irvine, California. Miss Snyder stated that six of <br />the swimmers were awarded medals. Miss Snyder then presented Certificates <br />to each member of the swim team. Mayor Gonzales personally congratulated <br />each member. <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS <br />Street Vacations <br />Res. No. R-114-87 <br />Mayor Gonzales declared the Public Hearing open. <br />City Clerk Ramos submitted the Affidavit of Publication and reported <br />that no protests or objections had been received. <br />Director of Public Works Hutton reported on the vacation of a portion <br />of Congress Street, between Lytle Creek Channel and Mt. Vernon Avenue, <br />stating that all notices and advertisements had been duly posted. <br />Mr. Hutton said if no protests are heard, Staff would recommend adop- <br />tion of Resolution No. R-114-87, ordering the abandonment of a portion <br />of Congress Street. <br />Mayor Gonzales asked if anyone present desired to speak on this matter. <br />Moved by Councilwoman Cisneros, seconded by Councilman Rios, the Public <br />Hearing was terminated. Unanimous vote. <br />Moved by Councilman Rehrer, seconded by Councilwoman Garcia, to approve <br />Resolution No. R-114-87. Unanimous vote. <br />RESOLUTION NO.
