Further, Courtesy Ambulance Services has offered to enter into an <br />agreement with the City to provide transportation for indigent <br />residents at no cost to those residents by accepting as payment in <br />full the payment authorized by Medical/Medicaid or any available <br />private insurance for such residents. <br />In addition, he recommended that the City Council contact its <br />legislators - Senator Ayala and Assemblyman Baca - and urge them to <br />pursue legislation that will enable the City to allow the Fire <br />Department to handle emergency transportation of patients. <br />Motion by Councilmember Cook, seconded by Mayor Gonzales, to <br />authorize staff to negotiate the sale of the ambulances and to <br />negotiate an agreement for transportation of indigent residents at <br />no cost to such residents beyond their insurance or <br />Medical/Medicaid coverage. Unanimous vote. <br />In answer to Council's inquiry, Chief David Hall indicated that <br />Apple Valley was one of the cities interested in making the <br />purchase of the three ambulances. <br />Legislation <br />Motion by Councilmember Cisneros, seconded by Councilmember Cook, <br />to encourage legislative representatives to enact legislation <br />authorizing cities to provide emergency transportation services <br />within city limits to reduce cost of such service to the residents <br />of the City. Unanimous vote. <br />CLOSED SESSION• <br />At 6:52 P. M., Mayor Gonzales declared the meeting adjourned to <br />closed session. At Councilmember Beltran's behest, and consensus <br />of Council, Mayor Gonzales declared the Meeting reconvened and <br />announced that Agenda Items 21 and 22 will be discussed at the <br />conclusion of regular City Council business, along with other <br />closed session items. <br />PUBLIC HEARING: <br />Electric <br />Mayor Gonzales announced that this was the time and place fixed for <br />Public Hearing to Consider Adoption of a Resolution No. R-83-94 for <br />Acquisition from Southern California Edison Company for the Public <br />Use of Distribution Facilities at Meridian Avenue, North of San <br />Bernardino Avenue, and San Bernardino Avenue. <br />Mayor Gonzales declared the Public Hearing open. <br />City Clerk submitted the Affidavits of Publication and reported <br />that no protests or objections were received. <br />5 <br />� L 6 5 f994 <br />
