attend the NCA Nationals in Dallas, Texas. <br />to donate $100. <br />MAYOR & COUNCIL COMMENTS: <br />None. <br />Mayor Gonzales offered <br />Mr. Mel Albiso, 2575 Carbon Ct., reminded that a couple of months <br />ago, City Council had adopted a resolution in opposition of <br />Proposition 187. On Sunday, November 6, at 8:00 A. M., a major <br />mobilization is planned from the new Cesar E. Chavez Park to the <br />City's boundaries and the marchers will join other marchers to La <br />Placita Park in San Bernardino. He said that 5,000 marchers are <br />expected. Such a great number of people cannot be expected to stay <br />on the sidewalks, the City will need to put up traffic control. He <br />stated they don't believe in the boycotting of schools and at least <br />500 kids from every high school are expected to show up. <br />Mayor Gonzales read a memorandum from the City Clerk's office <br />advising that Recreation/ Human Services Department; Fire Department <br />and Public Works and Streets reported no problem with the proposed <br />march. The Police Department reported that three officers have <br />been assigned for two hours of overtime. <br />Councilmember Beltran, seconded by Councilmember Cook, moved to <br />adopt Mr. Albiso's request to grant permission for the march from <br />Cesar E. Chavez Park then North on Mt. Vernon to the City's <br />boundaries near Valley College and to provide for traffic control <br />on November 6, 1994. Unanimous vote. <br />PUBLIC HEARING <br />Fall Weed Abatement Program <br />Mayor Gonzales announced that this was the time and place fixed for <br />the Public Hearing to Consider Approval to begin the Fall Weed <br />Abatement Program. <br />Mayor Gonzales declared the Public Hearing open. <br />Deputy City Clerk Delgado submitted the Affidavit of Publication <br />and reported there were several protests received by the City <br />Clerk's Office, specifically addressing the late receipt of <br />notices, which were referred to Fire Marshal Sork. <br />Fire Marshal Sork reported that pursuant to Resolution No. R-19-94, <br />the Fire Department gave written notice to property owners where it <br />was determined that weeds or rubbish constituted a public nuisance <br />and required abatement. He informed that the resolution also <br />authorized the charge of an administrative fee and to place all <br />fees on the San Bernardino County tax rolls for collection. <br />NOV 1 199 <br />
