Designation of Voting Delegate for League Annual Conference. <br />Councilmember Cook stated the Council cannot justify the expenditure of anyone <br />attending this conference. Motion by Councilmember Cook, seconded by <br />Councilmember Beltran that no action be taken on this item. CouncibTember <br />Sandoval stated this action should not be a hindrance to anyone planning to <br />attend the conference at their own expense. Councilmembers Cook and Beltran <br />agreed to amend their motion and allow anyone to attend the conference at their <br />own expense. Councilmember Bennett stated she was under the impression that <br />employees were not allowed to travel or attend conferences unless approved by <br />the Council. Councilmember Bennett stated several employees have attended <br />conferences. City Manager Martinez will report on this matter by memo. <br />Councilmember Cook requested this item be placed on the agenda. City Manager <br />Martinez stated the document will be prepared, sent to the Council, and placed <br />on the September agenda. <br />MAYOR/COUNCIL CU44EM <br />Councilmffrber Beltran stated the free swim worked out very well for the <br />community. <br />Councilmember Sanders invited the Council and members of the public to attend <br />the Carl Rimbaugh Softball Tournament. The City of Colton is the host city. <br />Councilmeinber Sanders thanked Lt. Crow, Mr. Anstine, and the City Manager for <br />helping with the tournament. <br />Councilmember Cook stated in the past, the pool has been filled to capacity and <br />has turned away kids. Councilmember Cook stated she would like to see the pool <br />open on Sundays as manpower permits. Councilmember Cook reported the San <br />Salvador Church Fiesta was held on Saturday and Sunday; it was a success. The <br />youth group raised $8,000 during the Fiesta. <br />Councilmen'ber Sandoval stated street improvement projects in the 6th District <br />are coming along well. There will be street improvements in and around Rancho <br />Mediterranean Mobile How Park. Councilmember Sandoval stated next Saturday <br />there will be Operation Neighborhood Safe which will be held north of the K -Mart <br />parking lot in the Cooley Ranch area. Councilmember Sandoval thanked everyone <br />who helped at the open house held at the Community Center. Councilmember <br />Sandoval thanked the management and staff of Albertsons who provided sandwiches <br />and drinks to fire fighters. Councilmember Sandoval asked the Mayor to prepare <br />a proclamation for Albertsons. <br />Councilmember Bennett distributed a letter regarding the Delhi Sand Fly; there <br />is a lawsuit to keep the fly listed as an endangered species. Councilmember <br />Bennett stated this item can be added to the agenda at the next meeting. The <br />Council agreed to add this item to the next agenda.
