requested a resolution be added to the next council agenda regarding opposing <br />the State using transportation dollars. Councilmember Bennett distributed a <br />memo to the Council regarding the State Constitution; and asked the Council to <br />make suggestions. Councilmember Bennett requested Channel 3 have a continuous <br />running tape explaining departments, funding, functions, and to show how local <br />goverment works. City Manager Martinez stated he will look into the matter and <br />would also like to videotape Fire and Police Department during events such as <br />the last fire in Reche Canyon. City Manager Martinez stated he will set up a <br />time line and forward it to the Council. <br />mayor Fulp, stated he and his family enjoyed the Fiesta. <br />PUBLIC HEARING: <br />Landscape Maintenance District <br />Mayor Fulp, declared the continuance of the Public Hearing. City Clerk Ramos <br />stated there were no written objections. Director Vega stated a budget has been <br />submitted for the maintenance portion of the landscape. The budget includes 5 <br />positions which are vacant at this time. The action has been properly noticed. <br />Lee Whittenburger, 1822 Cordova, Colton, <br />an increase. Director Vega stated it is <br />increases range from $6 to $18. <br />asked if the annual tax levy results in <br />different for different zones; the <br />John Longfield, thanked Director Vega for meeting with him. Mr. Longfield <br />stated the maintenance service was better when it was contracted out. Mr. <br />Longfield stated he is unsure who is responsible for the park behind Cooley <br />Ranch School. Mr. Longfield stated the citizens who paid for the park through <br />CFD's are also paying for the park through taxes. <br />Charles Jackson, 2568 East Topanga Way, Colton, stated the residents in Reche <br />Canyon Country Estates feel they are not getting the service they are paying <br />for. Residents pay approximately $15,000 per year for maintenance. Mr. Jackson <br />stated he contacted a licensed landscaper who gave him a bid of $3,600 per year. <br />Mr. Jackson requested the Council look into this matter and let them know why <br />they are being charged so much and getting so little for their money. <br />Bob Johnson, 1140 North 2nd Street, brought up the issue of the card club. <br />Mayor Fulp stated this time is to address the landscape maintenance district <br />only. <br />Motion by Councilmember Cook, seconded by CouncibTember Sandoval, to close the <br />Public Hearing. The motion was passed unanimously. <br />Councilmember Hutton asked Director Vega to explain how the district is set up. <br />Director Vega explained the different zones.
