Recommend denial. <br />(24) Fleming Park - Approve Request of Women's Division of the <br />Colton Chamber of Commerce for use of Fleming Park for its <br />Annual Little Miss Colton Pageant, on Saturday, July 29, 6:00 <br />p.m., with a Pre -Pageant gathering on Tuesday, July 25, 1995 <br />at 6:00 p.m. <br />Moved by Councilmember Hutton, seconded by Councilmember Sanders, <br />to approve the Consent Calendar with the exception of Agenda Items <br />41 51 8, and 9 through 17. Motion carried by unanimous vote. <br />Agenda Item 4 <br />Mayor Fulp stated this position's pay range is $35,000 to $43,000 <br />per year and recommended that on Page 3 of the Job Description, <br />that the last sentence be deleted which reads "Additional <br />experience may be substituted for education on a year by year <br />basis". <br />Moved by Mayor Fulp, seconded by Councilmember Bennett, to delete <br />the last sentence. <br />Councilmember Beltran asked Personnel Director Harmon if the City <br />could do this. Director Harmon replied the City has received <br />letters from the Department of Fair Employment and Housing on past <br />audits of the City and they recommend that the City not arbitrarily <br />set a requirement for education, when the job can be done be <br />someone without the formal education. She said in this case, there <br />is a person performing in the position currently without the formal <br />education and it could be deemed to be an arbitrary action setting <br />3 <br />JUL 0 5 1995 <br />
