* Certificates of Commendation to Nine Outstanding Colton High <br />School Students. Mayor Fulp commended the nine outstanding Colton <br />High School Students who participated in the National Skills USA <br />Championship in Sheet Metal Fabrication competition and in the VICA <br />Chapter Business Procedure Team. <br />Mayor Fulp said Michael Cain placed second in the nation at the <br />Skills USA Championships in sheet metal fabrication. Mayor Fulp <br />reported that the Business Procedure Team won fourth place, missing <br />the medals by .742 of a point. The members of the team were Ruben <br />Sanchez, Veronica Flores, Joe Gilbert, Sophia Samrth, Felix <br />Trevino, Dominic Mendoza, Daniel Flores and Lorrie Castillo. Mayor <br />Fulp presented each with a certificate and the Mayor's Eagle <br />plaque. <br />Mr. Bob Ready, Head VICA Advisor, said these students represent the <br />vocational skill group and that most of the students that are <br />seniors plan to seek a secondary college education. Mr. Ready <br />introduced one of the senior students who described the team <br />members as dedicated and talented individuals. <br />Mr. Frank Stalworth, Senator Ayala's Field Representative, conveyed <br />the Senator's greetings and expressed his dedication to the youth. <br />Mr. Stalworth praised the students and asked for a round of <br />applause for the students. He presented each of the students with <br />a certificate for their accomplishments. <br />On behalf of the Board of Education and Superintendent Herbert <br />Fisher, Assistant Superintendent Carrasco gave thanks to the Mr. <br />Reedy and the Teams for representing Colton High School so well. <br />AGENDA REVIEW: <br />City Manager Martinez requested adding an item to the Consent <br />Calendar due to subsequent need following the posting of the <br />Agenda. Personnel Director Harmon said on Monday, she was given a <br />letter of resignation by the secretary in her office. She said due <br />to the large volume of recruitment and the involvement in two law <br />suits requiring preparation of documents, she would like <br />authorization to make appointment to the position of Administrative <br />Secretary. <br />City Attorney Biggs advised it would take a two thirds vote to add <br />this item to the Agenda. <br />Moved by Councilmember Sandoval, seconded by Councilmember Cook, to <br />add the Personnel Matter to the Consent Calendar Agenda. Motion <br />carried by unanimous vote. City Manager Martinez said the item can <br />be considered as Item 19A. <br />CONSENT CALENDAR: <br />2 <br />JUL 18 1995 <br />
