R-22-95. <br />Motion by Councilmember Cook, seconded by Councilmember Hutton, to <br />accept and approve the Consent Calendar, except for Agenda Items 8 <br />and 13. Unanimous vote. <br />MAYOR AND COUNCIL ITEMS: <br />Recognition <br />Proclamation <br />Mayor Fulp read the proclamation declaring the week of March 26 - <br />April 1, 1995 as Architecture Week. Mr. Andres Soto, Principal <br />Planner of the Community Development Department accepted the <br />document. <br />Resolution of Appreciation <br />As requested, Mayor Fulp directed Councilmember/Director Hutton to <br />make the following presentation. Councilmember Hutton read the <br />Resolution of Appreciation upon the retirement of Mr. Gabriel <br />"Gabe" Castorena after 54 years of dedicated and exceptional <br />service for the City of Colton. <br />Representatives from Assemblyman Joe Baca and Senator Ruben Ayala <br />made special presentations of recognition to Mr. Castorena. Mayor <br />Fulp presented a personal memento to Mr. Castorena and to his <br />daughter Cecilia Castorena. <br />Mr. Gabriel "Gabe" Castorena addressed Council and thanked them <br />especially Director Hutton, who he described as the "best <br />director." He thanked the employees who helped him and encouraged <br />them to continue working together for the betterment of the City. <br />He said his wife could not be present and then introduced the <br />remainder of his family: Olivia, Veronica, Bernie and his wife and <br />Cecilia. <br />Mayor Fulp invited everyone to join Mr. Castorena and his family <br />for a small reception in the lobby area. <br />3 <br />MAR 2 1 1995 <br />
