She informed that other cities also <br />advertised such vacancies. <br />Member/Staff Travel and Meeting Costs <br />Mayor Fulp announced this item was informational regarding past <br />action to freeze expenditures for conferences, travel and per diem <br />for council members and staff, subject to authorization of the City <br />Council. <br />One -Stop Permitting Center/Division <br />Inviting the City to recapture its reputation as the Hubb City, <br />Councilmember Cook urged the City to promote a better business <br />climate and improve business retention and expansion through <br />commitment and team -work. She identified the need for the creation <br />of a One -Stop Permitting Center/Division to include the functions <br />of the Planning, Building, Business License, Fire Prevention and <br />Engineering Divisions, including fast tracking of development <br />entitlements and permits. While there is a study, she proposed <br />that the City Manager bring a revised plan for a one-stop permit <br />and she requested that a workshop be scheduled. <br />After discussion, City Manager Martinez assured Staff could meet <br />this request; however, he needed time to contact all appropriate <br />departments such as Fire Department, Development/Planning and the <br />Planning Commission. <br />Councilmember Hutton called attention to a conference regarding <br />this subject to be held in Riverside at the end of this month. <br />With approval of City Council, Mayor Pulp referred Councilmember <br />Cook's request to the City Manager and directed that the matter be <br />returned on the second meeting in October. <br />Veterans Park <br />Councilmember Hutton introduced Mr. Chris Gallegos, representing <br />the San Bernardino County Raiders Booster Club, who said his group <br />had recently manned a fireworks booth in an effort to obtain funds <br />to donate to the youth. After a visit to Veterans Park, Mr. <br />Gallegos found an opportunity to donate paints, two basketballs, <br />two nets and a check for $400.00, to assist with the painting <br />program and athletic programs. Councilmember Hutton asked for a <br />resolution of appreciation for the San Bernardino County Raiders <br />Booster Club. <br />Elected Officials and Review of Salaries <br />Noting recent Council review of work performances of executive <br />staff members, Councilmember Hutton asked if there was appropriate <br />mechanism available to review the work performance of elected <br />N. <br />SEP 0 � 1995 <br />
