to what can be accomplished. City officials and the community must <br />have wisdom and courage. She noted there was a need to streamline <br />the administrative and conditional use process. She said the City <br />needed guidelines and an administrative process that cuts through <br />the red tape. She encouraged study of the conditional use permit <br />process and minor zoning. <br />Councilmember Hansen referred to meetings regarding the realignment <br />of Agua Mansa and the industries and of the property owners who <br />were eagerly waiting for the outcome which was on the horizon but <br />bogged down by "little things." He emphasized that industry is <br />important. He believed the City needed entertainment areas and <br />tourism. He volunteered to work on the suggested committee. <br />Ms. Mary Carter Rodriquez, Riverside resident, relayed the fact <br />that she was working with Mr. Roquet in her effort to open a child <br />care business --a pre-school academy --in Colton. She complained <br />about the adult business which is in the choice residential area <br />and asked why this was allowed. In response, City Attorney Biggs <br />described the City's effort in court regarding the adult business. <br />Mayor Fulp evaluated that the immediate desire of the Planning <br />Commission is to have the City Council participate in the review of <br />the sign ordinance and with no objection from City Council, he so <br />ordered. In complying with the request for the creation of the Ad <br />Hoc Committee, Mayor Fulp appointed Councilmembers Cook and Hansen <br />and himself to said committee. He declared that the committee's <br />primary goal was to review the building ordinances, to identify and <br />eliminate inconsistencies and to clarify requirements. Further, <br />Mayor Fulp stated that the item would return to both bodies for <br />consideration. <br />Chairman Hernandez congratulated staff and City Attorney Biggs for <br />their excellent work. <br />At 6:50 P. M., upon motion and second by Councilemembers Beltran <br />and Cook, and no objection from Council and Planning Commission, <br />Mayor Fulp and Chairman Hernandez declared the meeting adjourned. <br />TERESA S.
