CM Beltran expressed his concern regarding the Council taking a pro -active stand to increase <br />economic development in Colton and suggested $5000410,000 additional funding be added to <br />the travel budget for this purpose. <br />Without objection, Mayor Fulp declared the City Council tentatively accept the City Council <br />budget, with the adjustment to the travel from$13,000 to $20,000, bringing the total to $341,904. <br />Once of the City Treasurer's Proposed Budget <br />Motion/second by CM Sanders/Mayor Fulp, tentatively approve the City Treasurer's budget. <br />Motion carried with CM Hutton absent. <br />O tce of the City Clerk Proposed Budget <br />City Clerk Malik Freeman advised Council that the City Clerk's office is moving into imaging <br />services and the positions in the City Clerk's office need to be upgraded and salaries increased. <br />Staff needs to be trained in the area of imaging, political practices, and elections, and receive pay <br />commensurate with their current, updated duties. <br />Elaine Craig, SBPEA, informed Council that any changes related to upgrades are a Meet and <br />Confer items. <br />Discussion continued with clarification provided by staff. <br />With out objection, Mayor Fulp declared the City Council tentatively accept the City Clerk's <br />budget as presented and at mid -year, possible adjustments may be made. <br />CM Hansen asked about returning to a 5 -day work week for several reasons: (a) employee <br />fatigue; (b) phone rings on Fridays/no one answers; (c) cut out Fridays, lose 20% of available <br />work week when other businesses are operating. CM Beltran agreed. <br />Without objection, Mayor Fulp directed the City Attorney to place this item on the closed session <br />agenda. <br />' � i i•' • iii 'i i �• <br />Assistant City Manager Daryl Parrish, summarized the public educational funding and <br />administration salaries and benefits. <br />City Council discussed the audio-visual budget. Mayor Fulp asked if the City Council wants to <br />approve funds to expand the capability to televise additional meetings of the City. Council <br />Member Sanders suggested Council ask TCI who is watching the meetings before expanding. <br />He also suggested conducting an audience survey from June 4 through July 30, 1996. Mayor <br />Fulp suggested the meetings be aired 24 hours a day and the channel only be used for City <br />4 <br />
