Landscape would
consist of trees, shrubbery, exercise and rest areas.
Mr. Lucero stated the importance and necessity for this project as follows: Proper reuse of the
vacated area; beautification of a major entrance to the City; promote pride in the community;
provide a safe area for exercise and a safe walking route in the Colton Avenue Corridor.
Mr. Lucero also listed potential for business on the comers of Mt. Vernon and Colton Avenue;
converting vacant lots to productive sites; and the potential tie-in with the City of San
Bernardino to connect this path all the way to the Stampede Stadium.
Mr. Lucero requested a Task Force of citizens be created to investigate this project and resolve
the following issues: project design, amenities the project should feature, and how project will
be funded. Mayor Fulp complimented and encouraged Mr. Lucero to present the idea to the
Parks & Recreation Commission.
2
Of ) r IMS
