Motion/second by CM Bennett/Hansen to add Item E to the Closed Session carried <br />with CM Hutton absent. <br />ITEM NO. 42: <br />Mr. Vincent Taormina, Colton Disposal, gave a brief update of the sanitation operation <br />transition. Dave Ault acknowledged support from the City's staff. He provided an <br />overview of transition action; transition team; goals re administration, employee <br />relations, operational, customer service, and computer systems/billing. He presented <br />a check, to the City, in the sum of $2,875,000. <br />ITEM NO. 21: <br />Yellow Lights <br />CM Bennett referred to the Traffic Committee Meeting Minutes of April 3, 1996, <br />where discussion was held on the request for flashing yellow lights at Cooley Ranch <br />Elementary School. <br />Motion/second by Bennett/Sanders to approve funding for yellow lights as requested. <br />Ms. Julie Fonda said she delivered her son to Cooley Ranch Elementary School where <br />she saw a small child, age 5-6 years, step off the curb at Old Ranch Road and the <br />child was almost struck by an oncoming car. She said a crossing guard was needed. <br />Ms. Karen Fincher, Colton, identified herself as the driver of the car and explained that <br />she could not see the child, who was shielded by a parked car. She maintained that <br />she was not speeding and wondered why there wasn't a crosswalk. <br />After discussion, Motion to approve Item 21 a carried unanimously with CM Hutton <br />absent. <br />Item No. 22: <br />School Crosswalk <br />CM Bennett requested a second crosswalk on Cooley Drive for the Cooley Ranch <br />Elementary School and reviewed two alternatives. <br />Motion/second by CM Bennett/Hansen to select Alternative No. 2 regarding <br />crosswalks. <br />Mr. John Longfield, Colton resident, thanked Police Chief Lunsford and Police Captain <br />Crowe for meeting with him. He said he spoke with Councilmember/Director Hutton <br />regarding video-taping the area. He suggested that the crosswalk at Old Ranch <br />2 <br />JUN 0 4 1996 <br />
