M., with all members present as heretofore. <br />ORIENTATION (Continued) <br />COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT, presentation by Director Zamora who <br />referred to a handout prepared by staff. He highlighted accomplishments, <br />specifically, a capital infrastructure finance study to insure the future needs of the <br />City; the Community Block Grant Program; Plan Check Process reduced by 20 <br />Days; the Code Enforcement Program and the challenges brought by the <br />billboards and the Adult Use Ordinance. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT, presentation by Acting Chief Hendrix, who described the <br />organization's divisions and their functions; noted challenges and <br />accomplishments, i.e., dispatch printers, Fire Station Network and Wide Area <br />Network (Other Agencies); rolling stock improvements; the Battalion Chief <br />Command Unit; the Rescue Unit; the Paramedic Quality Improvement Program <br />and public education programs. Battalion Chief Turner and Fire Marshal Sork <br />addressed division responsibilities and areas of expertise. <br />CITY LIBRARY, presentation by City Librarian Davis who spoke about the Colton <br />Public Library's Long Range Plan, compiled by the Library Planning Task Force . <br />of goals and objectives to the year 2000. He attributed accomplishments to <br />efficient service, the literacy program, and high morale of staff. He identified the <br />use of web page and Internet services, the demand for traditional services, and <br />the need for ample library space. <br />PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT, after video presentation, Engineering Supervisor <br />James King, spoke about the Street Paving Program, the CDBG Projects and the <br />Reimbursement of Capital Improvements. Street Superintendent Randy Rivera, <br />provided overview of the Streets and Parks Division, the maintenance and <br />preservation of City Properties and the sign shop. Automotive Superintendent <br />Marshall Partain spoke about maintenance of City vehicles, hazardous waste and <br />an environmentally efficient workplace. <br />NEIGHBORHOOD SERVICES DEPARTMENT, after video presentation of the <br />activities, responsibilities and accomplishments of the Neighborhood Services <br />Department, Director Randy Anstine highlighted improved communications with <br />the Police Department and the completion of Phase I improvements to Veteran's <br />Park. <br />City Council Minutes - January 9, 1997 Page 3 <br />
