All team moms are to be honored <br />guests and the Police Department and Fire Departments will have equipment on display. <br />Mayor Gaytan applauded CM Cook for her efforts. <br />CM Cook spoke about an exciting article she found in the Inland Empire Magazine, which <br />described the history and the future plans of the City's Hermosa Cemetery. <br />PUBLIC COMMENT: <br />Employees <br />Mr. Bill Yahn favored raises for safety and general employees. Referring to recent negative <br />news media, he suggested the formation of a police commission to address such problems. He <br />questioned the anti -picketing ordinance. specifically, the section regarding salesmen. He <br />found the proposed ordinance opposing recall petitions to be against citizens' rights. <br />Donation Request <br />Mr. John Prieto, representing the Colton Night Hawks, provided the baseball team's history <br />and their successful record. Short of its financial goal, Mr. Prieto sought donations to help <br />the team participate in a state -national tournament in Oklahoma City in the near future. <br />Various <br />Mr. Charles Jackson applauded the swearing-in of Mr. Fred Cordova to the Grand Jury of the <br />County of San Bernardino. He commented about The Colton City News; the 2% credit on the <br />utility bill if paid within five days; and, the Cooley House. <br />Denny Chastain did not respond to the call. <br />Fire Department <br />Colton Fire Captain Don Benfield, Vice -President of Fire Union, described the volunteer <br />programs, known as R.A.C.E.S. and C.A.R.E.S, available to the citizens and of the union's <br />warning against the Colton Volunteer Firefighters Association, a non-professional group <br />organized by Steve Anderson. <br />Mr. David W. Borgschatz of McNeilus Truck and Manufacturing, voiced concern about nine <br />acres and their request in March for expansion of that facility. He said a meeting was <br />arranged with CM Sanders, former City Manager Freeman and Planning Commissioner <br />Aceves and, to date, there was no answer. CM Sanders said the matter appeared before the <br />Design Review Committee and was rejected because of the Delhi Sand Fly and CALTRANS. <br />City Attorney Biggs reported on a meeting with Fish and Wildlife in Portland, with the <br />possible commitment that the City establish a habitat conservation plan, towards a possible <br />settlement.
