City Attorney Biggs declared that the City Council did meet in Closed Session, pursuant to G. <br />C. §54957, with respect to Public Employee Appointment: Appointment of Interim City <br />Manager. She stated that there was no reportable action taken. <br />City Attorney Biggs declared that the City Council did meet in Closed Session, pursuant to G. <br />C. §54956.9(b), to confer with its Legal Counsel regarding the following matters of pending <br />litigation: ON of Colton v. Steward; Steward v. Sandoval. Biggs, et al; and, ON of Colton <br />v. Club 215. She stated that there was no reportable action taken. <br />City Attorney Biggs declared that the City Council did meet in Closed Session, pursuant to G. <br />C. §54956.9(b), to confer with its Legal Counsel regarding one matter of significant exposure <br />to potential litigation. She stated there was no reportable action taken. <br />MAYOR AND COUNCIL ITEMS: <br />Presentations, Awards Proclamations <br />City's 110`h Birthday <br />CM Cook spoke glowingly of the City's 110`h birthday celebration. She acknowledged the <br />sponsorship by the City's business community and the people who do business with the City. <br />Honored guests were the team mothers of all of the sport teams in the City of Colton. She <br />thanked the Neighborhood Services Department, the Fire Department, the Police Department, <br />the Public Works Department, and the Electric Department. Plaques and proclamations were <br />received from Senator Ayala, Congressman Brown, Congressman Baca, and U. S. Senator <br />Feinstein. Mayor Gaytan praised CM Cook for her hard work on this event. <br />Fire Chief <br />Mayor Gaytan read a letter from Colton Firefighters Association regarding its continued <br />support for Acting Fire Chief Tom Hendrix. <br />C.A.R.E.S. <br />Presentation by Tony Horn from the Colton Fire Department on the C.A.R.E.S. program, <br />which stands for Community Assistance and Response to Emergency Situations, recognized <br />by the federal government. The program was started in 1995 by Colton resident and <br />firefighter Jim Calderon. CM Chastain acknowledged the volunteer time donated by <br />Firefighters Horn and John Ramirez in preparation for this presentation. <br />RECESS: <br />At 8:50 P. M., Mayor Gaytan declared a recess and at 9:15 P.
