She stated City of Colton v. Steward would not be discussed tonight but that Steward V. <br />Sandoval. Biggs, et al, a tender of legal defense, would be discussed in public session and <br />added as Item No. 23A as a consent item or as Item No. 28 under City Manager's Reports. <br />Additionally, City Attorney Biggs announced that the City Council would meet in Closed <br />Session, pursuant to Government Code Section 54956.9(b), to confer with its Legal Counsel <br />regarding two matters of potential litigation. <br />At 6:28 P. M., Mayor Gaytan adjourned the meeting to Closed Session. At 7:30 P. M., the <br />general meeting was reconvened with all Members present as heretofore. <br />City Attorney Biggs reported that the City Council did meet with its Labor Negotiator <br />Harmon regarding labor negotiations with Fire, Police Rank & File and Police Management <br />bargaining units and stated that no reportable action was taken. <br />City Attorney Biggs reported that the City Council did meet in Closed Session, to confer with <br />Legal Counsel regarding Taylor v. City of Colton and City of Colton v. Club 215 and stated <br />that no reportable action was taken. <br />City Attorney Biggs reported that the City Council did meet in Closed Session to confer with <br />its Legal Counsel regarding two matters of potential litigation and stated that no reportable <br />action was taken. <br />AGENDA REVIEW: <br />Mayor Gaytan requested to add two items to the Consent Calendar: <br />(1) On May 6, 1997, Council approved the use of Fleming Park for a church service by <br />Colton First Baptist Church and there is a request for permission to block "F" Street. <br />City Clerk Barrera identified this as Consent Calendar Item No. 23A. <br />(2) Request by Senator Feinstein for letter of support for SB615, action by congress to <br />provide funding for 70,000 senior citizens that might otherwise be left off of SSI <br />payments, identified as Consent Calendar Item 23B. <br />Mayor Gaytan announced that Closed Session Item No. B, regarding tender of legal defense, <br />would be added as Item No. 28, under City Manager's Reports and recommendations, for <br />discussion in open forum. City Attorney Biggs stated it was the tender of legal defense of <br />Councilmember Sandoval and herself, in the matter of Steward v. Sandoval.
