After meeting with Public Works and Finance Departments and with Landscape Contractor Roy <br />Perez, Interim City Manager Wood reported that this contract would be under the jurisdiction of <br />the Public Works Department for administration and that there would be a series of walk-throughs, <br />of the effected districts, with Councilmembers invited to attend, <br />Motion/second by CM Hutton/Sandoval to accept and approve the award of the bid for <br />maintenance of the City's Landscape Maintenance No. I to R. P. Landscape for a twelve (12) <br />month contract in the amount of $87,330.00, subject to receipt of executed contract documents <br />and pertinent certificates. After discussion, motion carried upon unanimous vote. <br />PUBLIC COMMENT <br />Miscellany <br />Mr. William Yahn commented on conference travels, Jack's Disposal Service and public benefits <br />charge. <br />Mr. John Longfield commented on conference workshops, fence at the riverbed on Old Ranch <br />Road near Cooley Ranch School and landscape walk-through. Discussion followed. <br />Mr. Howard Pergler, spoke about the dirty floors at Hutton Center-, the dismissal of a certain <br />employee and lawn cuttings. Interim City Manager Wood was directed to investigate and report. <br />Mr. Fred Cordova supported attendance at League Conference. He noted there were no City <br />officials at the Red Ribbon breakfast. He supported education and training for commissioners. <br />MAYOR AND COUNCIL ITEMS: INFORMATION SESSION: <br />Mayor Gaytan announced tentative Conferences: <br />• November 5, 1997 - Seminar - Manage Multiple Projects & Deadlines, San Bernardino <br />• November 5, 1997 - League of California Cities - Burbank, CA <br />• November 6, 1997 - League of California Cities - San Francisco, CA <br />• November 13-14, 1997 - City / County Conference, Northwoods Resort, Big Bear, CA <br />• December 2-6, 1997 - Nat'l League of Cities, Congress of Cities & Expo, Philadelphia, PA <br />City Attorney Biggs encouraged validation of the fact that Councilmembers are authorized to <br />attend local conferences. Discussion followed on developing procedure for tentative approval. <br />Mayor Gaytan moved for blanket approval of the educational conferences listed for Members who <br />,Arish to attend, to be reviewed and controlled by the City Manager. After discussion, motion failed <br />for lack of a second.
