SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING JUNE 16, 1997 A Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Colton was held at 4:40 p.m., on the above - given date in the Council Chambers of the City Hall, located at 650 North La Cadena Drive, Colton, California, Mayor Gaytan presiding. Notice of Special Meeting was given on June 10, 1997, in compliance with Government Code Section 54956. FLAG SALUTE: Fire Chief Hendrix led the assembly in the pledge of allegiance. ROLL CE 1 L: Councilmembers present were Sandoval, Cook, Chastain, Hutton, Sanders, and Mayor Gaytan. Also present were Acting City Manager Harmon, City Attorney Biggs, and City Clerk Barrera. Councilmember Bennett was absent. CLOSED SESSION: City Attorney Biggs announced that Item B of the Closed Session Agenda is a potential discipline, dismissal or release item and one of the individuals who is the subject of that discussion, the City Manager Malik Freeman, has requested that any discussion on this matter be held in public. As a result the Agenda will proceed as follows: (1) Item A will be discussed in Closed Session with the Council and (2) Item B will be discussed and handled in Closed Session the matter involving the Assistant City Manager, following those sessions the Council will reconvene in public to discuss the matter of potential discipline, dismissal or release as it relates to the City Manager. City Attorney Biggs stated that City Council would meet in Closed Session to confer with Legal Counsel regarding two matters of potential exposure to litigation pursuant to the provisions of Government Code Section 54956.9(b) City Attorney Biggs stated that City Council would meet in Closed Session to confer with Legal Counsel regarding one personnel matter pursuant to the Government Code Section 54957 involving potential discipline, dismissal or release. At 4:44 p.m. Mayor Gaytan declared the meeting adjourned to Closed Session and at 7:24 p.m. meeting reconvened with all Members present. CM Bennett was in attendance during Closed Session. City Attorney Biggs announced that the City did meet in Closed Session to confer with Legal Counsel regarding two matters of potential exposure to litigation pursuant to the provisions of Government Code Section 54956.9(b) and no reportable action was taken.
