Finance Director Vega presented. <br />CITY CLERK <br />After budget figures were presented, City Clerk Carolina Barrera responded to inquiry regarding <br />temporary allocations and professional services. <br />CITY MANAGER <br />In response to specific inquiry, City Manager Garcia said that part-time allocations identified as <br />temporary salaries would be assigned an appropriate title before approval of the final budget. <br />FINANCE <br />Finance Director Vega addressed questions regarding the need for temporary services. There was <br />a request for the Human Resource Department to work on a substitute, on-call process versus the <br />use of a temporary agency employee and Finance Director Vega said a report would follow. <br />Additionally, Director Vega explained that bank fees were assessed for credit card use. <br />RECESS: <br />At 9:14 P. M., a recess was declared and at 9:43 P. M., the meeting reconvened with all <br />Members present except for CM Grimsby who was absent from his place at the dais. <br />First Cijy of Colton and RDA Budget Workshop for Fiscal Year 1998-99 (CONTINUED) <br />LIBRARY <br />City Librarian David Davis responded to an inquiry regarding the possibility of a City -County <br />Library and the idea of a possible satellite library in the Cooley Ranch area, through the use of <br />grant funds. <br />POLICE <br />Fiscal information was presented on three divisions of the Police Department: Administration, <br />Patrol and Services. Acting Police Chief Patrick Crowe responded to questions regarding <br />performance measures relating to the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center; two frozen positions <br />and impact on services; reconditioning of patrol cars; the bicycle patrol; drug and gang <br />intervention; allocation for maintenance and operations; and the detective division and facility <br />improvements. <br />CLOSING COMMENTS: <br />City Manager Garcia stated he would add the two suggestions to the Library; correct throughout <br />the budget the "temporary" part-time designation; credit card costs; vehicle suggestion for public <br />Council Mins May 26, 1998 3 <br />
