CEREMONIAL MATTERS Presentations, Awards, Proclamations • Proclamation declared April 21,1998 as National Youth Service Day. • Proclamation declared May 5, 1998 as Cinco De Mayo. • Proclamation declared May 10 to 16, 1998 as Senior Center Awareness Week. • Proclamation declared April 20 to 26, 1998 as Architecture Week; accepted by Mr. John Melcher, Past President of the Inland Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. • Proclamation declared May 7, 1998 as National Day of Prayer; accepted by Pastor Johnson. • Certificate of Achievement presented to Eagle Scout James Alma Samford, Troop 440. PUBLIC COMMENT: In the absence of Mayor Gaytan, Mayor Pro Tempore Cook presided over this segment of the meeting. Bruce Gaytan spoke against expansion of the dump and about Club 215. Ann Coleman spoke against the CM Bennett recall and recalls in general. Steve Anderson spoke against the dump issue; the massage parlor ordinance; recalls; Club 215 and legal services. Rev. Bob Johnson invited all to a prayer gathering, from 12:00 to 12:15 P. M., at City Hall, on May 7, 1998. He acknowledged the difficult decision Council made regarding Club 215.
