Mayor Gaytan announced the City Selection Committee Meeting set for March
4, 1998, at the Feldhym Library, in San Bernardino.
AGENDA REVIEW: City Manager.
Items Nos. 12, 17 and 18 were pulled. Items 6 and 7 were pulled for separate
action.
City Manager Garcia requested that Council add to the agenda an item of
subsequent need. He indicated that CM Cook had been appointed to serve as a
member of the Finance and Administration Intergovernmental Relations Policy
Committee for the National League of Cities and she was scheduled to attend a
conference in Washington, D. C., from March 6-10, 1998. He asked Council to
adopt the findings provided by the City Attorney, to make the addition to the
agenda.
Motion by CM Bennett, seconded by CM Hutton to approve adding the item,
with City Attorney findings [none stated]; carried with CM Sanders absent.
Mayor Gaytan indicated it would be placed under Consent Calendar, as Item
No. 21A.
In response to inquiry, City Manager Garcia explained that Items Nos. 17 and
18 were removed in response to a telephone call from the San Bernardino
Public Employees Association, who expressed a concern about the City's intent
regarding these particular positions. As a courtesy and goodwill gesture, City
Manager Garcia said he would discuss the items with SBPEA and return the
items at a subsequent date,
Motion by CM Bennett, seconded by CM Cook, to approve the Consent
Calendar, EXCEPT for Items 6, 7, 12, 17 and 18, carried with CM Sanders
absent.
CONSENT CALENDAR
(6) Minutes - PULLED FOR SEPARATE VOTE: Approval of Minutes for the
Regular Council Meeting held February 4, 1997, Minutes for the Regular
Council Meeting held March 4, 1997, Minutes for Special Council
Meeting held December 29, 1997, and Minutes for the Regular Council
Meeting held January 13, 1998, on file in the Office of the City Clerk.
(7) Warrants - PULLED FOR: SEPARATE VOTE: Approval of Payroll
Warrants Register, dated 1/27/98, #183130 to #183484, Totaling
$416,679.87; Accounts Payable Warrants Register, dated 1/8/98,
#13050 to #13227, Totaling $646,095.40; Accounts Payable Warrants
