CM Grimsby announced that Parks and Recreation Commissioner Mike Berg was out of the <br />hospital and doing well. <br />District 4 <br />CM Cook announced that City Treasurer Mike Williams was guest speaker on July lb, 1998, for <br />the Inland Empire Division of the League of California Cities.She reported on the City's lll'h <br />birthday extravaganza and thanked all of the participants. <br />District 3 <br />CM Chastain reported the recent Town Hall meeting was well attended and commented on issues <br />discussed. She will assemble an advisory committee. <br />District 1 <br />On the Cantara development, CM Sanders informed that the street vacation item would go before <br />the Planning Commission on July 28, and then appear on City Council agenda on August 4, <br />1998. He commented_ on the Commission Orientation Workshop held on July 15, 1998. <br />Travel Cost Exceeding $1,00 " <br />MOTION/VOTE: Motion/second by CM Sanders/Chastain to approve travel costs for Mayor <br />Pro Tempore Betty Cook to attend the Brownsfield Redevelopment Workshop, from August 5-9, <br />1998, in Denver, Colorado. Motion carried with no opposition thereto. <br />Added item <br />MOTION/VOTE: Motion/second by CM Chastain/Sanders to add a matter regarding family <br />swim nights as Item 25 on the agenda, carried without opposition. [No findings were made.] <br />AGENDA REVIEW: <br />As requested, City Manager Garcia provided information on Item 21, regarding the City's <br />Cemetery. <br />MOTION/VOTE: Motion/second by CM Cook/Sanders to approve the Consent Calendar, <br />except for Items Nos. 7 and 15, carried without opposition. <br />ITEM 7 - Sewer Charges <br />MOTION/VOTE: Motion/second by CM Sanders/Chastain to waive full reading and pass second <br />reading of Ordinance No. 0-14-98, setting a general rate on sewer charges effective July 1998, <br />carried with CM Bennett and CM Hutton voting "No." <br />ITEM 15 Public Works <br />CM/Public Works Director Hutton corrected Staff's recommendation to read as follows <br />"...authorizing the restriction of parking along the East and West sides of Rancho Avenue, for a <br />distance of up to 430 feet, north and a distance of up to 430 feet south' of Olive Street." <br />MOTION/VOTE: Motion/second by CM Cook/Bennett to approve Staff's recommendation as <br />correction and approve and adopt Resolution No. R-68-98, carried upon unanimous vote. <br />Council Mins July 21, 1998 5 <br />
