District 3: CM Chastain inquired about the playground equipment at Cesar Chavez Park. City <br />Manager Garcia confirmed the playground equipment would be done by Friday. CM Chastain <br />spoke about the Fire Department's Santa Claus Tour and the Fire Department's Make a Child Smile <br />Project. She invited everyone to the Christmas Parade and Street Faire. <br />District 2: CM DeLaRosa assured the residents of 81h Street and Johnston Street that the Public <br />Works Department was investigating the standing water in that area. Public Works Director said <br />engineering surveys were being conducted. After inquiry, CM DelaRosa informed that Bryn Mawr <br />Court and Briton Court do not need water line replacement and that funding would be sought to <br />pave these streets in the year 2000 or 2001. He asked that the banners on Mill Street be changed to <br />holiday banners. He conveyed holiday greetings. <br />At Large: Mayor Gaytan spoke about the bears for the Loma Linda Children's Hospital. He <br />expressed condolences to the Roquet family. He expressed gratitude to the Police Department for <br />its support during the football season. He explained that the parents paid for the air-conditioning at <br />the school. lie announced the football banquet on December I I Ih at Cooley Ranch School, with <br />catering by Jaime Alvarez. He thanked staff for allowing the Colton Girls Water Polo Team to use <br />the Colton Community Center Pool. He spoke about the Christmas Parade. He spoke about an <br />upcoming lunch with Senator Feinstein. He announced that fireworks will be available for the new <br />Years Eve celebration. He conveyed holiday greetings. <br />BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS <br />I Utilities Commission <br />Mayor Gaytan announced the resignation of Annette Gilbert and invited residents, at large, to apply. <br />CM Chastain announced the appointment of Terry Bryant to the Utilities Commission and asked for <br />ratification thereof, <br />MOTIONNOTE: Motion/second by CM Bennett/Mayor Gaytan to ratify the appointment of <br />Terry Bryant to the Utilities Commission carried with CM Sanders absent. <br />MILLENNIUM CELEBRATION <br />CM Bennett informed about Colton. England's plan to announce activities of other Coltons around <br />the world, at midnight on New Years. She asked Colton citizens to forward information to city <br />Council Staff. <br />ACTION ITEM <br />Ratification and Appointment Permanent Part -Time Office Specialist 11 <br />City Manager Garcia made brief presentation and requested approval of staff s recommendation. <br />MOTIONNOTE: Motion/second by Mayor Gaytan/CM Cook to approve ratification and <br />appointment of the permanent part-time position Office Specialist 11 carried with no opposition <br />thereto.
