and assistance accorded the students at a recent tour of City Hall, the Police Department and Fire <br />Department. <br />MAYOR AND COUNCIL ITEMS: Comments, Inter -Governmental Agency reports, <br />Information Session and Action Items: <br />COMMENTS: <br />District 4 - CM Cook commented on Flag Day (July 14); the City's birthday celebration on July <br />8; and, the receipt of an award for Make a Difference Day. She described the San Bernardino <br />International Airport and Trade Center marketing brochure and the City's Summer 2000 <br />Newsletter, to be generated on a quarterly basis by the Parks, Recreation and Family Services. <br />District 1 - CM Sanders commented on the dedication of the George E. Brown, Jr., park and <br />expressed gratitude to Kathy Kivley, Ron Kenny, Adelfa Flores, Dedie Baylan and City Manager <br />Garcia. <br />District 2 - CM DeLaRosa thanked Matich Corporation for the paving the lower field at <br />McKinley School and for donating their time and materials. He asked the Code Enforcement <br />Team to canvass the areas at Herberts Lane, Canary, Cameo and Norman Road. He announced a <br />town hall meeting in that area on June 71h at 6:30 P. M., at the Junior High auditorium. <br />District 3 - CM Chastain reported on the Council's trip to the State Capitol to meet with <br />legislators to present the City's request for more funding. <br />District 5 - Mayor Pro Tempore Bennett spoke about Reche Canyon Road improvements and the <br />recent trip to Sacramento. She read a memorandum from CTAB advising that $3.5 million had <br />been set aside for the North-South corridor. CM Chastain provided additional information and <br />said that SANBAG would also look at CTAB money and funding as well. Mayor Pro Tempore <br />Bennett commented on weeds on Washington, between Reche Canyon and Hunts Lane and tall <br />weeds beneath the signs installed at Reche Canyon Estates.
