Vernon <br />Street Speeding/Enforcement <br />Humane Society Public Seminar <br />City of Sacramento Program <br />Commission Vacancy <br />BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS: <br />Appointments — Pursuant to MC§ Section 2.30.030 — Manner of Appointment <br />CM Hernandez announced the resignation of Recreation & Parks Commissioner Melissa <br />Perez. CM Hernandez submitted the name of Fred Henderson for ratification to the Mobile <br />Home Rent Review Commission. Motion/second by CM Mitchell/CM Ramos to appoint Fred <br />Henderson. No opposition to the motion. <br />AGENDA REVIEW: <br />City Manager Parrish presented Consent Calendar Item No.(s) 3 through 21 for approval with <br />Item No.(s) 5 and12 being pulled for a separate vote. <br />Mayor Bennett declared that the comment that she made at the Adjourned Regular City Council <br />Meeting/Workshop on September 23, 2002 regarding the Sister City was not correct and <br />requested that corrections be made according to her actual comment. <br />Motion/second by CM Chastain/CM Ramos to approve Consent Calendar Items No.(s) 3 <br />through 21, with corrections to Item No.3 (Special Meeting Minutes of September 23, 2002) <br />regarding visit to Rio Grande to read: " Mayor of Rio Grande would like Mayor and Mayor Pro <br />Tempore to stay in Rio Grande, Hondo' and Item No.(s) 5 and 12 being pulled for separate <br />vote. Unanimous Vote. <br />(5) Parking Restriction — Approved and Adopted a Resolution Restricting Parking During <br />Hours of Street Sweeping Operations upon Certain Streets, RESOLUTION NO. R-119- <br />02. <br />CM DeLaRosa asked if this be a citywide project and can we use the Citizens Volunteers to <br />enforce the parking restriction. <br />City Engineer Amer Jakher responded that this is a pilot program in specified areas and the <br />results will come back to Council in three (3) months. <br />Police Captain Joe McCann stated that volunteers can be used in some things, however a paid <br />individual is needed to issue citations for this project. <br />CM Mitchell questioned City Engineer Jakher as to following the street sweeping, will the <br />citizens be permitted to re -park their cars street side? Whereas, City Engineer responded that <br />the program is not currently set up that way.
