City Clerk Carolina P. Barrera declared that the affidavit of Publication was on file and reported <br />that no protests or objections were received.. <br />Fire Marshall Sork presented an overview for council consideration and requested approval of <br />Staff's recommendation. <br />PUBLIC COMMENT: <br />The period for Public Comment was closed, as there was no request to speak. <br />Motion/seconded by CM Ramos/CM Chastain to terminate the Public Hearing. Motion carried <br />with CM DeLaRosa absent. <br />Motion/seconded by CM Ramos/CM Hernandez to approve and adopt RESOLUTION No. R-95- <br />02. Motion carried with CM DeLaRosa absent. <br />PUBLIC COMMENT: <br />The following citizens addressed the City Council: Gary Tad Juday, John Hutton, Larry <br />Sheffield, Fred Cordova, Bob Johnson, Jimmy Babacos, Demetrius Jonzun. <br />MAYOR AND COUNCIL ITEMS: <br />The following topics were addressed by the Council: Zoning of the Colton Golf Course; Items <br />listed in closed caption on the Channel 3 cable station; CM Mitchell expressed his concern <br />regarding appropriate behavior during the election period; Congratulatory wishes to Art <br />Thompson an active citizen of the community on his recent birthday; Concerts in the Park held <br />in Fleming Park; acknowledged events for the youth; SANBAG report on how the city is using <br />their Measure I funds; last workshop item establishing rules of conduct; participation at Colton <br />Pony League and Colton T -Ball games; upcoming September 11, Memorial in the park; and <br />season opener Colton Youth Football. <br />BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS:. <br />None <br />INFORMATIONAL ITEMS: <br />League of California Cities Annual Conference in Long beach, CA. (Oct. 2-5, 2002) <br />)r- Engaging Youth In Our Cities <br />Mayor Bennett stated that there was no paperwork for this item and believes that there would <br />not be enough time to engage the youth prior to the October Annual Conference. She would like <br />to start preparing to choose students to attend next years annual league conference. <br />City Flag Display <br />Assistant to the City Manager Kathy Kivley presented an update on the progress of developing <br />a City Flag and that there were several design concepts in progress. The flag will be reviewed <br />by the flag committee and the goal is to present it to council for approval in time for the <br />presentation at the Annual League Conference in October. <br />2 <br />
