City Clerk Barrera presented a brief synopsis of the history of Landmark No. 47. The residence <br />met the criteria for a Historical Landmark and was approved by the Historic Preservation <br />Commission on August 14, 2002. City Clerk Barrera requested approval of staff's <br />recommendation. <br />PUBLIC COMMENT: <br />The period for Public Comment was closed, as there was no request to speak. <br />Motion/seconded by CM Ramos/CM Hernandez to terminate the Public Hearing. Motion carried <br />with CM Chastain absent. <br />CM Mitchell stated that he would be abstaining as he believes that the Council needs to meet <br />with the Historical Preservation Commission for a workshop to better understand the guidelines <br />to determine Landmark status, what the best interest is of the City in regards to Landmarks and <br />to make the citizens aware of what is expected of them when their property is designated <br />historical. <br />Motion/seconded by CM DeLaRosa/CM Zamora to approve and adopt RESOLUTION No. R-99- <br />02, Historic Landmark #47. Motion carried with CM Mitchell abstaining and CM Chastain absent. <br />(2) Historic Landmark #49 — Benches at Cesar Chavez Park <br />This was the time and place fixed to consider property located at 670 North Colton Avenue as <br />Historic Landmark #49. <br />Mayor Bennett declared the Public Hearing "Open". <br />City Clerk Barrera said the Affidavit of Publication calling the Public Hearing was on file in the <br />City Clerk's Office and stated that no protests or objections were received. <br />Mayor Bennett requested that the Public Hearing be left open until Council could meet with the <br />Historic Preservation Commission, as to gain a better understanding of the guidelines used to <br />determine historic designation. <br />City Attorney Dean Derleth advised that the Public Hearing must be continued to a specific date. <br />Discussion and motion/second by CM Mitchell/CM Zamora to continue the Public Hearing <br />related to the Historic Landmark No. 49 — Cement Benches and Picnic Tables, located at Cesar <br />Chavez Park, 670 North Colton Avenue, to the November 19, 2002, Regular Council Meeting. <br />Unanimous Vote. <br />(3) Historic Landmark #50 — 664 N. 7th Street <br />This was the time and place fixed to consider property located at 664 North 7T" Street as <br />Historic Landmark #50. <br />Mayor Bennett declared the Public Hearing "Open". <br />City Clerk Barrera said the Affidavit of Publication calling the Public Hearing was on file in the <br />City Clerk's Office and stated that no protests or objections were received <br />2 <br />
